There will be a new champion on the men's side this year. The Wayne Wallwork, Al Purcell, Al Handlechner, Gord Terwillegar 08 gold medalists were rendered obsolete by the Alan Steffen rink in the District play offs. In the ebb and flow of the hotbeds of the Ontario game, District 14 has gone to the top of my list in the overall competitive picture.
And what happened to the team that represented the epitome of golly good group play.
Well they didn't tire of each other but are just so successful ( 4 straight trips to the Canadians )that all of the team members have been bowling their way around the world.
I speak of the Steve McKerihen team. David Anderson and John Devonshire are just back from competing in the Atlantic Championships in South Africa and Fred Wallbank along with Steve will be in Malaysia for the Asia Pacific Championships in August. The latter will narrowly conflict with the Canadians but enough to render the other defending Ontario Fours team out of service.

The women do have Jo Anne Bugler's team ( 3 straight for this talented squad ) back and there is no surprise they are ranked at the top on the form sheet above.
Jo Anne was another member of the National Team in South Africa in the spring.
The defending gold medalists , Laila Hassan, Chrystal Shepherd, Doreen Creaney and Helena Ho are not together this year so it will nearly be a complete change-over for this first event.
