It is a neat setup. A double-decker clubhouse with the kitchen and dining/meeting area upstairs and windows overlooking one of the two greens. A cozy bar is downstairs allowing for on tap and chat. Day one is always many mouths to feed in this event and only a minor delay to meet convenor Dennis Schmidt's efficient time lines. The host committee erected perhaps ( visualizing in my mind's eye ) ten of the portable garage style tents for the sun protection of the players and spectators. Nice touch.
Greens keeper Keith Vessie obviously had put time and effort into upping the pace and smoothing the surface. He overall succeeded in reaching the 10's in speed and provided a collection of readable rinks. They are short in Hanover and the draws are on an average 6 feet but these greens didn't cause you to lose.
So to committee chairperson Gerry Belair and the many helpers thanks for an enjoyable weekend.
