Dylan Jacobs will play 12 and Kelly McKerihen 9 games as the transportation disruption in Europe has reduced the field by 6 countries.
England, Scotland and Northern Ireland along with the Netherlands Jersey and Spain players will now be checking the scores from home like you and I.
There are 10 women's teams and 13 men's entries left standing on the mat.
They will play two sets, 9 ends each round in a single section.
I haven't confirmed the starting time for games so the Canadian EST is approximate.
Kelly plays her Round 1 morning game ( April 21st, 8:00 PM ) against Singapore's Shermeen Lim and takes on the defending champion Genevieve Baildon of New Zealand in the afternoon ( April 22, 12:00 AM ).
At the same time ( the more games the better ) Dylan starts his long trek with a Round 1 match against Singapore's Hiu Kai Wong and plays Pierre Breitenbach from South Africa after lunch.

Competitive lawn bowling mixed with a twist of life. A skilled exciting game hidden from the masses by its image. Often only takes one roll-up to leave you wondering why you waited.

WORLD CUP/WORLD JUNIOR CUP ANNOUCEMENT
The World Cup/World Junior Cup are going ahead despite the current Iceland volcano travel restrictions.
Dylan's grandma , Noreen Welsh, tells me the officials are re-working the schedule as some of the players are unable to make connections.
It is ironic that you could fly out of Iceland ( below the high rising volcanic dust ) and not out of Scotland ( the home base of World Bowls ) to get to the event.
Keeping an eye on the ticker tape and my ear to the ground.

2010 SEASON OPENERS - NEAR AND FARRRRRRRRRRRRR
Polish your bowls and hop on a flight because we are set to zoom off to the 2010 outdoor bowling season in Ontario.
" Leaving On A Jet Plane" isn't our usual mode of travel to tournaments on the provincial scene but two of our young bowlers are not usual.
They are world class people travelling half way around the globe to play in a World Championship event.
Kelly McKerihen from Toronto and Londoner Dylan Jacobs leave the country to-day for Warilla Australia to start play in the WORLD JUNIOR CUP beginning on Thursday April 22nd.

Getting there isn't easy and it wasn't easy. They beat out that dandy brother sister bowling act, the Scott's, Alex and Fran, from Saskatoon in Saskatoon last August to claim their "Ticket To Ride".
I will be following their progress and you can too at the World Bowls site.

Niagara Falls doesn't seem nearly as far now as I head to the Ontario traditional opener on the 25th.
Always a joyous occasion to start with lots of greetings and hugs, catch up conversation and a bowl in the hand is better then one in the bag. However a frown may appear as you discover that object of admiration in your hand has abandoned all of its tricks over the winter. How soon they forget.
The Niagara Falls Club is a great place to get the kinks out and add twice as many. Warm and fuzzy facilities with its bar and lounge and greens that always play near mid-season form. That's good but popularity and one green make it difficult to break the entry logjam.

Speaking of bowls spring training, check out the newest indoor facility , Major League Sportsplex , where you have an invitation to roll bowls and catch up to the Arizona and Florida snowbirds.
This preview is this coming Tuesday, April 20th starting at 11:00 A.M. Do contact Bowls Coordinator Mario Battista ( battista@rogers.com ) if you can make it. If he hasn't already, Mario will send you information that will raise your eyebrows with interest. And remember it is 641 Danforth Road not Danforth Avenue.

I mentioned I was going to keep tabs on Warilla this week and will do that as I drive up and down 401 checking on the status of the renovations of the service centres. I'm going to Scarborough on Tuesday , back home and to Burlington on Friday to try to switch a hockey grand boy to bowls, over to Woodstock on Saturday to applaud the OLBA Board for its hard work all winter and honeymoon at the Falls on Sunday.
See you around.

The Evolution of BBBlog
Two thousand and ten. Will I or will I not.
No compulsion if I truly write only for my own entertainment.
Or start and stop as the mood strikes.
I have always had the urge to write and speak in public. Seeking commendation ? I suppose.
Perhaps just a simple desire to share something that I found interesting and believe others will agree.
But when the story has a defined start and a planned ending, continuity is a prerequisite.
'A Man For The Season.'
You can't make the trip if you don't get on board.
So let us start up the new season hill. Out of shape so won't be pushing the fingers too hard at first.
I have "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue " and a lot of " Silver Sixpences " donated adieu.
Embarking for the podium adventure. Have your tickets ready.
